Friendship Evangelism

OVERVIEW

The concept was to produce a short lifestyle evangelism course, in English and Spanish, for use in training laity to become more actively involved in the harvest of souls. A twofold purpose was established;

(1) to provide a Scriptural basis for the dynamics of personal evangelism, and
(2) to encourage the discovery of opportunities for evangelism that most Christians will find are a readily available program.

BACKGROUND

The basic ideas and materials were obtained from the Assemblies of God, and subsequently permission was obtained from the Gospel Publishing House to re-write the program. Reverend Chris Thompson, Evangelism Director of the North Carolina Conference, rewrote the program...producing a hands-on, ready to use program of ministry for laity throughout the denomination. The materials were updated and reprinted in 2001 and is a joint ministry of Evangelism USA and Men’s Ministries.

CONCEPT

a. This is excellent material. To date over 5,000 individuals have completed the course and earned their certificate. The material has spread to the mission fields of Africa, Germany, and Europe.
b. The course can be taught; (1) in the normal six sessions, (2) a special week-end session, (3) and during a Sunday school quarter by dividing each lesson into two classes. Two Conferences have used the material as a part of their Continuing Education for ministers.
c. "Friendship Evangelism" is a hands on, ready to use program for the local church with the potential to produce vibrant witnesses. The course is a complete, turn key, evangelism tool. A teacher’s resource manual (cost $14.95), student’s text (cost $6.95), and overhead masters (cost $49.95) are available. Also, a PowerPoint presentation is available for $14.95. In addition some forty plus additional overhead masters may be ordered directly from the office of Rev. Chris Thompson, PO Box 9, Falcon, NC 28342 (910) 980-1162.
